5 Ways to Protect Your Personal Space

5 Ways to Protect Your Personal Space

Your emotional health is just as valuable as your physical health and absolutely worth
protecting. Who and what you allow into your personal space will have a profound effect not
only on your mental state but also the quality of your life.

Following these 5 recommendations is crucial to creating and maintaining meaningful and
fulfilling relationships because your vibe will attract your tribe, and conversely your tribe will
become your vibe!

Here are 5 ways to be the gatekeeper of your personal space:

1. Avoid the mud-slingers – move on from those who enjoy spreading gossip, rumors, lies, and
negativity. If they are doing to others while you are present you can bet they’re doing the
same to you behind your back.

2. Decrease or eliminate the time you spend with those who don’t celebrate your
uniqueness and love, honor and respect you. This also includes what you watch or read that
tells you or implies that you are not smart enough, thin enough, pretty enough, etc., etc., etc.

3. Stay away from the energy “vampires” (those who will drain your energy). These are the
people who are always in a crisis, love chaos, and will continually draw you into their dramas
because their misery would love your company.

4. Ignore any opinions that don’t enhance your life. “Opinions are like @ssholes…everyone
has one!” (pardon my vulgarity, but I love this quote). Think of it the next time you listen to
some know-it-all’s unwelcomed rants. It will make you smile! The only opinion that matters is
the one you have of yourself.

5. Surround yourself with those who want to see you grow and succeed. Avoid those who
don’t rejoice in your accomplishments or successes. Their lack of excitement or even worse,
ridicule is only a reflection and painful reminder of their own shortcomings. But continued
exposure to their negativity will cause you to downplay your successes and you will slowly lose
your focus, motivation, and drive to continually improve yourself and your life.
Remember you are the gatekeeper to your personal space so be very particular what and who
you allow in. As Tony Robbins says: “You will become like the 5 closest people you associate
yourself with” so choose wisely my friend!
