The Biggest Weight Loss Mistakes I See People Make

After working with many clients and being on my own weight loss transformation journey for the past year and a half, I’ve finally learned the secrets to creating vibrant health. I’ve also seen the biggest mistakes people continually make when attempting to lose weight and I’d love to share some with you.

 

Throughout my adult life I’ve battled with my weight and struggled unsuccessfully with countless diets. Because I’ve tried just about every diet out there and ended up comprising my health and gaining more weight after each attempt, I started questioning:

 Is it me or is it the diets?……..turns out it was both!

We have been conditioned by doctors, diet gurus and society to believe that in order to get results and maintain our ideal weight, we have to deprive ourselves, count and restrict calories, cut out our favorite food indulgences, and have iron-clad willpower. This approach has not worked in the past nor will it work in the future. Diets don’t work!

The results are not positive because the approach is negative and self-defeating.

Chronic dieting is one of the biggest mistakes I see people make when trying to lose weight because diets focus on the end result and how quickly we can achieve it, so we either fail or succeed. When we “fail” we start feeling depressed, frustrated, and angry; so we eat to suppress and numb these negative feelings and we predictably start the relentless diet cycle until we finally throw in the towel and give

up.

Diets don’t work!

Another big mistake I see people make when trying to get healthy is attempting a diet or wellness program with a mindset that sets them up for failure before they even start!

In other words; they attempt to overcome weight loss or health challenges before they understand the self-defeating thoughts that are driving their counterproductive actions and causing them to engage in self-destructive behaviors that undermine their efforts and sabotage their success.

 Weight loss and vibrant health start with what you think, not with what you eat!

Simply changing and/or manipulating your diet, is not the most effective way to lose weight, get fit and be healthy. Yes, this type of plan may work short-term, but if you don’t get your head in the game by Creating a Positive Mindset, you will more than likely gain all the weight back and th

en some; compromising your physical, mental and emotional health in the process.

Change must come from within, because internal change is the foundation for external change!

You cannot let the thoughts and beliefs that are no longer serving you go unchecked or unchallenged. If you do, you have severely limited your chances for success, fulfillment, and happiness in your life because it’s nearly impossible to successfully lose weight and overcome health challenges coming from a place of negativity and disempowerment.

Learning to release or reframe negative thoughts and beliefs will get you lasting results, give you more confidence, make you feel more at peace, and in general keep you healthier mentally and physically.

As you see, successful and lasting weight loss is not as simple as following “the less you eat, the more you lose” mentality. If it were that easy we’d all be at our ideal weight and have no trouble maintaining it.

This approach may work short term, but it’s a self-defeating and ineffective strategy that leads to frustration, stress, and anxiety and you’ll more than likely gain back all the lost weight and then some; and losing a little piece of yourself every time.

Chronic dieting and riding the diet roller coaster is not only frustrating and exhausting, but can potentially harm your health!

We need to have a deeper understanding of what’s causing our health issues and undermining our wellness goals, and then have a rock-solid plan in place on how to achieve total weight loss freedom and optimum health, so we can finally engage in the exciting life we’ve been craving for years.
